we'll find our place in this world if it takes all day and all night

Good God. I just pounded, in a frenetic, excited drumming motion, on my kitchen counter, where my life is lived — where the computer hums and the iced tea pours and the unopened mail piles up and the bananas brown. I did this because I put in the Dears album that I bought in Toronto (story to follow), and "Hate Then Love" started and I realized that my #1 all time favorite song ever (the "You could try to break my heart song") is that one. It is. It is on the record. I have it forever. My life is a wonder.

don't you know who I was?

We're going to Toronto/ We're going to stay here/ To see -- who knows? A Sloan show, mostly/ And something la la la

OH! Shake it shake it shake it! Etc.

So yeah, I'm going to Toronto. The last time I went to Toronto was April 2003, in the middle of SARS. Because I'm awesome like that.

Before that was August 2001, and I remember when we went in 2003, we couldn't believe how long we'd stayed away. Well, we beat that by a lot. So now we go back. Who knows if anything we like is still there?

Probably all of the Toronto Film Fest famous folk will be gone or nearly by the time I arrive on Saturday, which is just as well. I prefer to be the most notable celebrity in every room.

In other news, I keep trying to make brown hair, but it keeps turning light again. I am sad about it. Shoe polish will be my next move. Look out!
